Too many things on my head. Since yesterday, I’ve been in a kind of space struggling with a dark cloud over my head
My late wife came again during the week asking for Alvin and I said, ” I will divorce you and take custody of Alvin and she said ok, take him and I accept your divorce
I woke up really worried and worried about my work with a certain gloom
Came back from Ikenne yesterday with some victories in my bag – secured 20% of funding for my London plays and sold some books
But I still was not ok. So I went to sleep early and woke up at 3am with sleep disappearing
Then I decided to scroll the Internet and fell on a clip on Tunde Ednut’s page
It was a lady at a hospital in Asokoro whose sister just died cos she didn’t have N15, 000 to pay for blood
She first alleged poor treatment after she and her sister walked into the emergency room, where according to her the catheter was misfitted, causing her sister to lose blood and need blood transfusions
Now she is dead and just like that. Another Nigerian is dying needlessly
Now, there is no need to shift blame but just to agree that Nigeria has once again happened to this lady
As we move towards the elections, the constitution allows us to effect change but will we?
Someone just died cos of N15, 000, and thousands die daily for less and we are here still selling votes for bags of rice, and we are here selling our consciences and lending our names to all sorts of indignities to keep our traducers and their cronies in power
When it happened to Chimamanda, I said I won’t cry and Nigerians didn’t understand
This is the reason I said, I won’t cry cos this wasn’t just on her but on all of us
We really do have the chance to seek true change or remain in the bondage that a bag of rice perpetuates
It’s really our choice, you may come and beat me
