An evening with Julian Osula

Edgar, we don’t joke with u in our family. That was Julian, Nigeria’s biggest luxury merchant to me as he sent a well-sought-after invite to his son’s wedding

I met Julian through my big oga Chike Ogeah and since then he has been super generous to me

He recently took the centre spread of the coffee table book which he paid millions for and once dashed me a wristwatch valued in excess of N2m

So when he sent the invite, I rushed to the elegant Wheatbaker Hotel to pick it up

The dress code was white for the groom’s side and I gave them my newspaper design pants designed by Mudi.

My pants were made up of newspaper prints and my top was also of the same hue so I looked like a walking Thisday Newspaper

By the time I got to the Harbour Point venue of the traditional wedding, the place was filled to the brim with the best in Nigerian society

As I was being escorted to my seat, I detoured towards Julian and his beautiful wife Oghogho

They both looked like royalty. Oghogho has always been a stunner.

Her height, her gait, her carriage all cascading down into the most charismatic beauty you would find outside of Benin

Julian himself wasn’t looking bad in his red flowing bini Royal ensemble with his glittering grey beard giving him off the regal intimidating look

I hugged both of them and took pictures and wished them well.

As I was headed to my seat, I sighted Aigboje Aig Imoukhuede and Prince Bimbo Olashore

I rushed to them and stood between them to take pictures and told them very clearly that it was a privilege to take pics with them

Then I almost tripped over Olu Akpata who was also in a white Benin ensemble.

I sat at his table and asked him about his next plans in his very exciting political career

He told me things but I’m not sure, he would be happy if I mentioned. So ill. Just keep quiet

The food came and it was delicious and neat and they gave me whiskey and champagne but I took Coke until Julius Rone the Gas King came

Julius is my friend and I like seeing him. He was in blue with silver accessories

He ordered whiskey and we kept sipping and then Tony Elumelu entered and electrified the room

I hugged him and he whispered in my ear – you are firmly my man and I said yes o and we took like six pictures together

Then I sighted Chuka Onwuchekwa my former boss at Aquila and I ran to him and said Oga you are owing me and he gushed Edgar I am very proud of you and I said, ” Make I send acct? And there and then he wired me N200k

Charles Aigbe walked in looking sweet. Azuka Ogunjiuba also passed through, but I ignored her.

I saw so many powerful people o. Aliko Dangote was on Mr Elumelu’s table with Dr Mrs Elumelu and my favourite person in the whole world – Onari Duke

She looked so lithe and graceful that when she beckoned to me, I wondered who the Brazilian beauty calling me was.

Then I saw Area Fada and you know we are fighting but he rushed to hug me and I hugged him back and the fight ended. He is my fada and my respect for him remains

It was my ex-in-law Rita, Ohimai’s wife who said come and greet me and as I was walking towards her, I saw Area Fada

Julian and Oghogho’s wedding soiree was the richest and most elegant that I have attended so far this year

The arrangements, the F&B distribution, the music and the quality of attendees were all top-notch

Despite all the glamour, the rich traditions of the Benin, Itsekiri and Ogwashi Uku were proudly thrown up

I loved the traditional songs, their costumes and the Benin MC was simply a delight

Whoever was the event planner needs a Grammy as the event flowed and people had fun and turned it into one huge party with the live band taking it to another level after the traditional stuff

Time for me to leave and I saw newly rich Cubana Chief priest arrive in a Rolls Royce but his was not the highlight of my exit, it was Aliko Dangote

He had a small army fully armed to the teeth waiting to protect him. Lucky him

Julian showed his social power and influence with the ease he pulled high society to watch his handsome and well-brought-up son take as wife simply the most beautifully brilliant bride anyone could be lucky to have this year.

I had fun

Come and beat me
