Sampson Nyong Edgar – the saga..

So I didn’t want to close this essay. I had left it where I walked into my fathers room the morning of his passing and saw two documents

Pressure to conclude was massive. My phone didn’t stop ringing as people wanted to knw what were d documents

People stopped me on the road to ask and one person even offered me N5m to put it on stage citing that – its usually the mothers that is serenaded and this is unique

Ive decided to put not only my fathers story on stage but the story of our fathers in a series of monologues titled – Sammy, My father, Our Father and their Father with Dr Ikechukwu Ikuku who did Bianca in charge

The play will take a look at real life experiences with our fathers, collecting stories from real life people and meshing them into a captivating tale of our unsung heroes – our Dads, the ones who slide into annonymity at the tail end of their lives.

The play will come up next easter, same time with Emeka and Bola, two great fathers making next easter a celebration of and for men.

Now back to the concluding part.

My oga Collins Chikeluba had called me to come and see his new office in VI

As one of my biggest and most consistent supporters, I had gifted him his life sized caricature portrait for him to hang in the new office so I went to see it

Then walked in a nice lady. I know her but wont mention her name. She is the MD of Yellow Chilli the brilliant restaurant

Ehnnn ehnnn Edgar, ive been looking for you, she echoed

I want to knw which documents you found in your fathers room- aghhhhhh

I read u on Afolabis group and was going to call Victor – Victor is the promoter of Yellow Chilli, to help me ask you..

Tell me about the documents

I looked at her and was kinda proud that this my whats app rants was really being read very far and wide o

So I sat her down and said, Oya I will tell you but you have to promise, you wont tell Victor cos he no dey give me money..

So she took a sit, sat down and crossed her legs and asked – was it a DNA test result? Cos you said something about your mum saying that if she had met you as a step son, she would have sold you…

No ooo, I laughed, kai. See your mind

Talk na Edgarrrrrr, she screamed and i said ok, as I went thru his drawers….

Come and beat me
