Like your popular Loud Whispers Column in Thisday, you have penned a piece that is whispering loudly in WhatsApp groups
and contains some wrong information about me.
My father’s name is Abayomi Benson.(Late). He was not in the Army. He was an administrator, a business man and a politician. He attended CMS Grammar School, Oriwu College Ikorodu and Cuttington University.
He worked at Radio Nigeria, Phillip Morris Nigeria and later ran his one business until he passed.
I did not live in Mhyong Barracks. I grew up on Adelabu Street Surulere. Go and verify
Further, I do not subscribe to the notion that Suruléré is under a stranglehold.
Assuming without conceding that were the case, I am certain that Gbaja knows better and he cannot proudly parade the current Chairman as a sterling example of leadership.
I’m in the race because Suruléré deserves better not the dull, drab and docile leadership which is currently in place.
My plan for Surulere is bold, daring. It scares even me.
Broadband Internet in our police stations is not rocket science. It’s a token that I plan to achieve in y first quarter in office.
My manifesto has been drilled and grilled by people’ that should know.
I’m giving this my all. We must grow the economy of Surulere and I plan to do just that. A lot of private sector involvement is on the agenda.
Duke, the great Barcelona football club set up an academy in Surulere and they packed up and left because of poor enrollment. I am bringing them back.
The many young people sagging and wearing baggy pants are a bundle of creative talents looking for avenues for expression we will harness them.
If we jointly set up a music studio/record label with the private sector, we’ll be creating an avenue for some of those who can’t afford to pay for studio sessions and have no sponsors.
Suruléré is long over due for it own community radio. We will establish one and that’s a source of additional income. (IGR)
Development partners are looking for ideas to fund we will get them into Suruléré.
The talent pool for social miscreants is huge and needs to be reversed.
I can spend hours on end to discuss my plans for. Suruléré. Believe it or not, it even feeds into the president’s plan to have a USD1trillion economy within a decade. Think of it as Entrepreneurial Governance.
Imagine if we had young bright minds as.Chairmen in only 20% of the Local Governments, we’ll be telling a very different story.
I have forged ahead despite several concerns about my safety. They didn’t see us coming, they didn’t.
