Growing up in Shomolu, saw me mixing and playing with a lot of ijebu children

They were plenty, oshigbosin, Bayo, Taju who we used to call Tisco and many others

Failing from Command, saw me ending up at the revered Igbobi School 2 later renamed Angus Memorial High School

From my interaction with them, I found out that they loved pepper and stew.

Throw in pepper and owambe, you have the Ijebu culture under wraps

It was as a small boy, sitting infront of my mothers chemist shop at the intersection of Abiodun street and Fakorode that I first encountered Wasiu Ayinde Marshall before he now became Kwam 1 after so many name changes

He would come and see his friend Kunle Atoyegbe and I think both of them had the printing business – Kunwaz

I sha realised that he was a popular person as the junction was a very popular busstop where buses from onipanu stopped

All the conductors and bus drivers will hail him as he stood infront of the shop chewing on Agbado – this same agbado that we used to give person presidency

He was a fine young man who was usually in well sewn traditional wear and gold jewellery all over his body and very fine leather slippers

One day customs in a SWAT like style raided Kunwaz for whatever reasons and I stopped seeing Wasiu or Kwam 1 or whatever it is he was calling himself that time

Years have passed and the man has grown into a large statue in regional socio political spheres

A real local champion with a real grasp of barely literate issues which now puts him as a bridge between the elites and the grassroots who remain disenfranchised and gullibly open to the continous exploitation by our conquerors and this is where Kwam 1 comes in

Ijebuland has always been a very important nexus in yoruba land

When they are not arguing about the visit of the Queen of England, they are riding horses and wearing very beautiful Aso Ebi or Aso Oke on very bad roads with little or no infrastructure

They have very rich people with the wealth not reflective on the town

I am confused as to how many Ijebu kingdoms there are and as to how many of them, this new King would be preciding over

Anyways the most important thing is that we have to replace Chief Sunny Kuku who is doing ‘Shonekan’ so that he can be free to attend parties – a beautiful past time

The last king was well respected and left in a blaze of drama

He opted to be buried in an Islamic way paving the way for his Abobaku to japa thereby depriving traditionalist another opportunity to dance in blood

Anyways, as the conclave continues with their search, I want to tell them that I have candidate o

My candidate is Kwam 1 and I think the king makers and Mr Steaze shd better look very closely at his candidacy

Nigeria of today is a country with no logic, principles have gone thru the window and criteria for leadership is Akpabio

Ijebuland cannot be differnt as any attempt to bring a Ladi or Bolaji Balogun or any other such type would be alienating the very important kingdom

Abi what would Ladi be telling the Gucci Kabiyesi or his brother the ex Mopol whose kingdom is near the Lagos – Calabar express and who recently anmoyed the emperor

For Ijebuland to align it must be ‘fujirised’ such that we can build a nexus between Gucci, Mopol, Iwo and then when the time comes for Isale Eko we complete it by pushing for Pasuma or any other Prince with such relevant qualifications

I think we shd not waste time in interviewing others as Kwams CV is well suited for the kingship of today

A globally powerful musician, a strong Muslim with a sweet gold tooth meeting the criteria of the last king, musician to the Emperor, can ride horse and is the most beautiful of the princes

I will be sending a very strong memo to the king makers stating very clearly why my candidate should be the annointed one

We must bring back class and elegance to Ijebuland cos after the Ojude Oba and Mr Steaze have gone back to his day job everything goes cold till the next year.

With Kwam 1, it will be one exciting thing or the other , I swear

We will be changing the kings name daily, driving islamic scholars away from burials, eating agbado and much more importantly, Ijebuland may just have a Grammy-winning king if we work hard enough

Mbok dont mind me o, these are just ramblings from a man who has been celibate for a bit and as such, not thinking very well.

Please ignore me or you may just come and beat me, if it will make u feel better

Thanks

Duke of Shomolu
