Over the weekend, News of her nude photo was all over social media
She is a top Yoruba socialite who was even serenaded by Plane Catcher Kwam 1 at some point
I have learnt that her daughter just got married and that at 55, she remains eternally beautiful
A lot of blogs carried the story with a lot of analysis
All the talk caught my attention, and I went in search for the clip and finally got it this night
She is truly eternally beautiful and does not carry the body of an average 55-year-old
She is well-endowed and was clean-shaven.
She did a poor job of simulating sex as her beautiful hands went all over her well-curated body
Instead of evoking pleasure, it looked like a panel beater using sandpaper on a car body
What I have learnt is that she was having an affair with her friend’s husband.
So she sent the clip to him, which now fell into the hands of his wife, her friend, who now threw it to the public.
Now the urge to take nudes and send to partners or keep on the phone remains overwhelming despite its attendant risks
The first reported sex scandal of this sort was that between a Nigerian lightweight actress and her white boyfriend
Apparently, she had gone to repair her phone.
The repairer stumbled on the material, and the rest was history
The actress had kept nude pics of her and her white boyfriend doing ‘things’, and Nigerians went gaga
In my estimation, this was our very first introduction to this saga.
The whole nation went mad, and the talk was plenty
To diffuse, the lady and the whiteman got married and all went quiet
Since then, we have been served various episodes. From the very popular celebrities to the not-so-popular, down to the street urchins
Tiwa, Moyo and even my Doctor friend, who later went to jail, have all served us a beneficial dose of their nudity and themselves in various forms of sex acts to the hypocritical admiration of Nigerians
Tiwa’s own went international and even made the huge porn sites, where it still pops up in various captions. Same with moyo.
Even just a few days ago, just before this socialite’s own, we saw one of a bridesmaids who now went to sleep with the groom and sent the act to the man
His wife saw it and sent it to social media, and in return, she also sent the wife’s own, where she was sleeping with someone else’s husband, and all hell was let loose
So let me ask, why do we even indulge in such risky things
Despite the risks and scandals that come with it, Nigerians are still recording themselves, sending it to each other, not minding the huge repercussions, should these clips fall into the wrong hands
This thing has led to suicides, public shame and ridicule to say the least, but the trend is still going with strength.
The immediate reasons my research has thrown up include –
Some use it to entice and elicit money.
Women do this a lot cos men are visual in their sexual nature
Like in this case, the Yoruba socialite would have hoped to gain and sustain her target’s interest for either the relationship or for money
Second, and very popular, is long-distance relationships.
To sustain the fire, those in these kinds of relationships do this sex tape thing a lot to keep themselves warm and for self-pleasure
Another reason is prostitution. There is an app called Telegraph, and so many other sites, where you will see Nigerian youths displaying their nudity and sexual acts, complete with contact details
Other uses include for crime. In this case, blackmail and extortion
Some of this footage is even obtained from dingy per-hour hotels where hidden cameras are set.
This is why we must be cautious as to where we do our things and patronise well-set-up organisations with legal identities and branding that throw up the need to be protected
So, in all of this, what is my advice
Recording, sending and indulging in virtual sex acts of this nature, despite their pull, must be totally avoided
It’s a kind of addictive behaviour that, if not started, should be avoided, and if already engaged, we should do everything within our powers to stop
The pain and public shame that come with it cannot be measured compared with the consequences
And if we must do it, then take advantage of the view once button.
What this does is that it deletes the clip or photo the moment it is viewed, but you must also delete it from the sender’s end immediately
Another option is not to show your face.
These examples mentioned were those of amateurs who showed their faces on the clips
Real experts don’t do that. They show the genitals and nothing else, but partners who know very well the body constructs of their partners would well recognise them if they see them, even without their faces
An exception must be made for Tiwa cos in her case, she wasn’t even aware that she was being taped, from what we saw
Her face in the throes of ecstasy remains etched in my mind and has refused to leave all of these years
So my people na beg, I dey beg if anybody ask for ur nude or to be recorded, please refuse and politely say send ur own, my camera don spoil
