My last write-up, titled ‘Trump, I Pity Tinubu,’ has gone much more viral, if there is anything like that.
Governors, Generals, prominent businesspeople, top Government officials, and APC members have all reached out.
A former Gov called in and congratulated me on the write-, but sounded really pessimistic on the matter and its outcomes
As expected, rabid Tinubu fans have abused, heckled and attempted to defend their master , criticise and label me
As a matter of policy and for my mental health, I avoid die-hard Tinubu fans.
Arguing with them is like arguing with religious zealots, and no matter how educated they are and exposed, they still come at you with the sensibility of a kindergarten student.
I mistakenly called one today, and his arguments got me rushing to the bathroom to puke
Tinubu is on the way to a $1 trilion economy, and as such, he will be uncontrollable by America and this is why they are after him. He started.
Tinubu deliberately avoided America cos he needed to grow the economy locally
It’s Tinubus’ enemies that are doing this, and they will suffer
America is going for regime change, and they want to replace him with someone who can be amenable
He said this much and plenty more that I had to block from my faculties before I went mad.
The penchant for Tinubu’s die-hard supporters to block out reality or claim ignorance as to the real happenings with his government has reached Legendary proportions
You see huge phd holders throwing up arguments that make you cringe and begin wondering what planet they are from.
Let me make it clear, none of these fools loves Tinubu more than me
I swear it to you, these people will run at the first ‘banger’ talk, less of a bullet
If Tinubu is taking these people, especially the people within his inner circle, very seriously, I would be very disappointed
It is as a result of our love for Tinubu that we are shouting.
The issues are very clear –
America needs a strong and viral Nigeria as a bulwark to shore up its waning influence in Africa
America cannot afford to destabilise Nigeria, cos it will worsen the security situation in the Sahel and sub-region
So what America is seeing is a Government that cannot do the job.
What they see when they look down is a government struggling with legitimacy due to the fractious elections, a government that is non-inclusive and has alienated a large portion of the people.
It also sees a government that, as a result of its quirky appointments, has not been able to robustly attack a security situation with vast implications on the continent and its interests
Worse, it is facing a gradual descent into a civilian autocracy, with the ongoing canibalization of opposition parties as a result of the cross carpeting into the ruling party.
If anybody is telling Tinubu anything outside of these, then the person is selling him lemons
Nigeria is too important in geopolitics to be ruled as if u are ruling Shomolu Local Government – running around with irrelevant international figures and leveraging the influence of rogue Lebanese families to get access through the back door of minor powers
If Tinubu, according to his supporters, doesn’t need America, why is he rushing to meet their VP, which, in essence, is even an insult, as reported.
Would Obasanjo agree to meet Vance on an issue like this?
One die-hard supporter, a Bank MD, even told me this morning that Trump has sent people to go and talk to France to talk to Tinubu and even wagered me N5m that Tinubu will not go to America
Another said it was cos he banned the exportation of Shea Butter, and cos we will soon stop the importation of fuel, that is why Trump is doing this
Let them keep feeding him with all this crap, and let’s see how it will pan out
I’ve always said that Tinubu is in the best-ever position to be the greatest-ever Nigerian leader if only he can rise above the fray of politicking and don the garb of statesmanship
If he can achieve this, then he will secure the legitimacy that has long eluded him and his government
I don’t care about Trump and his shenanigans; I care about the obsolescence in leadership that has brought us to this level of international disgrace and our inability to push back
So, I have said my mind once again, and let me repeat: Tinubu must show forthrightness in Governance, immediately institute far-reaching reforms, build his International stature, and, very significantly, push for substantive Electoral reforms after that he can come and beat me.
For now, he should not even think of touching me cos i will bite.
Thanks
Duke of Shomolu
