If you understand how the APC power grill works, you will marvel at what I just did
Prince Tajudeen Olusi is core and extremely influential within that grouping they call GAC, a body that cannot be trifled with under the present power configuration.
I had secured his numbers last week and called him and he said – see me on Monday by 1pm
I wanted to discuss the Ekiti International Theatre Festival seeing that he had just been bestowed with one of the most powerful titles by the Ewi of Ekiti
But by the time I was ushered in after waiting for four hours – by this time a lot of people had come and gone and seen him-, I was no longer interested in discussing Ekiti again
His people had looked at my dreadlocks and had decided I had all the time in the world to spare, so they really kept me waiting
Prince Olusi looked frail, light-skinned with narrow eyes
I had heard so much about him as he has been a key power player in Lagos politics since Tinubu’s first term as Governor of Lagos
I prostrated and offered him a bottle of Seaman’s Aromatic Schnapps, which he waved aside and beckoned me to speak.
I asked him a question and he sat up, tried to look at me and started talking about issues – politics, Leadership, ethnicity etc
As he spoke, I looked up to see his pic with Tinubu and another with SANWO-OLU, and I looked at him again and the contrast hit me.
Where are all these frail old men getting all this power from, I asked myself
I couldn’t find the answer as he finished talking.
In response, I agreed to all he had said as I didn’t want to argue with one considered a sage by his people.
He asked me again where I was from and I gave the classic response – I am Akwa Ibom but was born and raised in Shomolu
He smiled and said, o you knowy grandson – Teslim and I said no but I kmow your son, yhe Chairman of one local Govt on yhe Island
And he said no – Teslim. He called an aide and asked the aide to call Teslim and ask him to represent him at yhe festival and that he shd meet with me
The aide used my phone to flash Teslim and Teslim called back, Duke of Shomolu?
And I said – you know me? And he said who know know you
And I said – where you dey, dem no give me food for here and he said come.
This was an eye opening experience, I tell you
No need to beat me
Duke of Shomolu
