Dear Duke,
You have subconsciously joined the sermonization group surreptitiously led by ‘ Segun Sowunmi’. This is a group of those who write and talk well about current state, analyze the weaknesses & strengths of political actors in opposition, but fall behind in design thinking around sound political tactics or roadmap on the future state. To put succinctly, they are heavy weight in talking the talk, but light weight in charting and executing the action plan. The leader of this group could not get past the primaries in trying to contest for the governorship seat in Ogun State, he attempted to raise a movement called “the Alternative” he slumped, but then he is still talking and marking the script of those he cannot untie their shoes.
Back to your proposition sir, you have only called the trio of Atiku, Obi and El Rufai monkeys of democracy, but you have not suggested the elephants that should replace the monkeys.
You accused EL Rufai of venting spleen all over the place, but don’t you think you are on the same slope with him by tarring a man who raised a movement and disrupted Nigeria’s political dynamics from a politically marginalized tribe and a small party (small ship in the words of Senator Ndume) within the shortest period to the general election in Nigeria’s political history, with the same brush that should naturally brush aside the old ‘politically entitled folks’ from the landscape or advise them to queue up behind the lead champion of the Unnatural Obidient Movement, which transcends religion, tribe and narcissistic sentiment & ideology, and broadly accommodates much more than your statistics of “60% of voters who are 50 years and below” with resounding presence across your highlighted States of :Lagos, Kano, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Abuja etc.
However, if the monkeys that arguably represent the opposition voices “under suppression” is not meeting your expectations, would you please motivate the “supposed elephants” or those you think have the capacity & capabilities to please step out and upset the apple cart than try to unwittingly phase out an existing plan without a deliberate new plan for replacement. Nature abhors vacuum, please sir leave the monkey to keep the trees busy until the elephants summon courage to confront the ‘ bellicos unpopular movement’ as it were.
Come and slap me.
PG- just sharing my thought
