Dr Fasua reached out yesterday on the back of my blistering attack on his performance with Seun Akinbaloye
As expected, he was defiant and almost non unapologetic. He offered some justifications for his seeming off-the-hook behaviour and ended with a subtle threat – please don’t push out what I have said, but if you do, then what it is is what it is.
He continued – you threw the kitchen sink at me and may be part of a conspiracy to take me out, and if that’s the case- then what will be, will be.
I assured him of my non-inclusion in any plot but reminded him of our early discussion on the need to show restraint in his media engagement.
Rotus, the gangling Arise TV anchor and a prominent member of the Duke Summit, announced to the group that Dr Fasua would be a guest on Arise TV, and I made it a point of note not to watch.
I hear it was another train wreck.
I didn’t bother watching, cos I know my friend. He will hunker down, go on overdrive defensive and literally just lose the plot.
Now my attention was drawn to a rebuttal by an iritant Ade Ebimomi obviously close to Dr Fasua.
This person, if he wrote this so-called rebuttal, spent over 90% of his dribble eulogising Dr Fasua, telling us that Fasua was the most brilliant graduating student in their school somewhere in Ondo and as such – Edgar, is not qualified to write a diss piece on his egg head.
He went on to query my credentials as a columnist and essayist, wondering why Thisday allowed me to write despite my writings being ‘non-cerebral, non-engaging, most often times illogical and largely shallow.
He even mentioned that he once asked Segun Adeniyi Chairman Editorial Board of Thisday’ What was it that qualified Edgar to be given a platform on the referred newspaper’
You see, bringing slavish Owambeism to this discussion shows very clearly the futility of expecting any kind of hope from these kinds of worms who litter public discuss
Refusing or not being able to address the issues esp, his principal’s lack of understanding of the effect of per capita income of two countries in comparing standards of living but instead devolving into a parochial paedophilistic comparison bw the US and Nigeria in daily food consumption shows the kinds of Economics degrees they award in that their school in Ondo.
Dribbling with gushing spittle, praise singing an off-mark performance since his appointment, is Mr Ebimomi doing his ‘egbon’ or is it ‘aburo’ a great disservice ?
His write up, which I even suspect may have been co-authored by Dr Fasua or at the least inspired by him, will not douse the fire but inadvertently set him up for more public beating.
In the general scheme of things, Mr Ebimomi doesn’t count as his dribble shows his lack of depth and a total lack of the ability to comprehend issues hence his falling back on nostalgic alumni sentiments to throw very feeble punches at a stronger opponent
My advice to him is to go look for a worthy opponent for his harmless scud missiles and they litter the many motor parks in his favourite Ondo town instead of looking for a fight above his intellectual grade which could earn him a thorough verbal beating such that may require bouts of relearning and reconfiguration of his intellectual capability which in the real sense might just be what he needs.
As for my brother Dr Tope Fasua, I am not privy to the mandate upon which your appointment was made and as such cannot dictate to you how you go about executing your marching orders but telling us that we should remain extremely appreciative that we can afford N1, 500 Boli and Epa drawing from your principals Agbado economic theories is an insult that would certainly come back to bite you and at that point Owambe crooners like your former classmate, would stand clear like they always do as you run the whole mile in apparent helplessness in search of refuge and forgiveness as destiny reclaims the people’s true mandate.
Inevitable
Duke of Shomolu
