I am writing this internally to us cos I want to believe that we are all still passionately involved with the need to drive a successful re-emergence of our BGL
For some time now, the comeback has been in the public space, but here and within our circles, we have all been admonished not to say a word cos – we are still putting things in place.
This is a first wrong foot, showing a clear lack of understanding of how the present-day market operates
Today’s market operates with different rules, almost with no boundaries and doesn’t really give a hoot about regulation
While we are here threatening me with legal reprisals, the news of the re-emergence of BGL is out there making the rounds
I have received the poster from over 30 people today and a lot more people know what is going on in BGL than those who are arrow-heading the comeback
My take is for BGL to sejze the narrative immediately, issue a press release, announce its come back and plead for more time to get things in the proper place bf an official relaunch
A face for the rebirth must be announced immediately, a rebranding, change in the logo and the colours and giving the brand a more refreshing and appealing look.
Drive from the strength of its past but not be hobbled by it, lean on Alberts huge goodwill and promise a more constructive future leveraging technology, new markets, and innovation all driven by the iconic go-get-it spirit that BGL is known for
We are today playing coy and this would not help as the media has already taken pole position to help us announce our rebirth
We should have done this by ourselves so that we control the narrative and point to a new direction
Keeping quiet will swell rumours and rumours will make building trust very difficult and this could be disastrous knowing where we are coming from
We need savvy media managers, killer digital media experts, superb branding experts and beautiful reputational management people who would craft and mould a new story.
An IPO should also be announced immediately and drive it on new leadership and new ethos but leveraging once again on Albert, whose nostalgic visionary visage would drive the exercise.
Please, let’s not be doing like cavemen in the digital era. There is no fear or worry again, let’s enter this market boldly and take it once again
