Superbly established Arisetv has just aired a special.
It was a brilliant investigative sojourn into the finances of the late Herbert Wigwe since his passing, and the results, to me, were not surprising.
Bank statements have shown humongous spending on the extended Wigwe Family by trustees on things like International sch fees, luxury travel, and expensive Hotel stays all totalling more than N1b against the grain of thought as pushed by the extended family and their supporters.
While the rest of you will gasp in horror, esp in the face of the horrendous attack carried out by these people on Aigboje, I have only smiled and continued with my life.
This is not surprising, Aigboje in a private chat with me had once said that this matter would lead to reforms in the legacy, heritage space being one of the fundamental visions of him and his brother as they set forth to impact society
Inlaws- the horror that is inlaws in the face of a passing interstate or otherwise has been a part of us for eons
The madness of inlaws scares us to death.
Even I with almost no assets have faced the wrath of inlaws
The day my wife died, I was ordered to park the car I bought for her a few months earlier and not use it to carry ‘women’.
I was instructed not to sell the house that was in my name but with which I had graciously allowed her to serve as landlady as a way of supporting her and giving her some level of inclusion as a second wife with a son for me
I laughed and swath the whole thing the way you swath an irritating fly
So if that lame attempt could be tried on me, with almost no asset then you can now begin to understand this present issue
Loafing, self-entitled biological siblings and other types of relations usually live in an ensconced bubble of entitlement especially when the pillar of the family has such a high profile like my dear Herbert
They go about life with the – do you know who I am mantra.
They curry favour, influence peddle and live like hedonistic Rock stars not caring to contribute to the wealth creation and when the principal passes, they turn into much more annoying monsters
So many unresolved issues like this litter our history.
The Bensons, the Rotimi Williams and the Abiolas to mention a few
But these ones were actually children fighting over a shared heritage unlike this one where shameless extended families are fighting biological inheritors over their fathers estate
As I watch the Arisetv report, what comes to my mind is what could have happened to the Estate by now if over N1b had been spent on them despite the legendary fiduciary discipline Aigboje is known for
Imagine if Herbert had fallen on emotions and handed over everything to these ones, today the estate would have been taken over by AMCON
The Arisetv report put a lie to all the positions cast by the other side
Ohh the father is suffering, ohhh they almost killed Emeka, oh Aigboje has stolen Herbert’s asset, oh Aigboje is wicked
She even came on air to repeat the bare-faced lies with a boldness only a confirmed witch could muster
I once said that I don’t know how to be balanced. I am not a news reporter; I am a commentator and, as such, I must take sides.
What I owe my readers are facts and logical reasoning and also that I must take sides based on my convictions and then justify it with strong arguments
When I am wrong, I apologise since nobody is infallible
People say Edgar but you have friends who can do no wrong in your eyes and as such you jump to their defence
And I say yes that is true, but what makes it very easy for me is the fact that I share the same convictions, approach to life and outlook with most of my friends
Asue and Itua Ighodalo, Chike Iroegbunam, Aigboje, Herbert, Ken Etete, Kola Adeshina, Akin Kekere-Ekun and Tope Fasoranti to mention a few
These are the people who inspire and mentor me. Do you see any of them being funny on any issue?
This is why its so easy to jump in their defence even before hearing the rest of the story cos you know that they are conviction-led
From the first day, I smelt the rat of the wahala, I just knew which side I would fall on and I have not regretted standing very firmly and assuredly behind Aigboje and Uche as they fight the fight of their lives in protection of their brothers – Herbert and his children.
They have stood very gallantly in defence of Herberts legacy thru storm and personal danger and have remained resolute to the point that people are starting to ask themselves – do I have an Aigboje or Uche in my life? And if I dont how do I create one.
And with siblings like these, one should not be in a hurry to die-postpone it, I tell you.
The saga continues, and na here we stand.
We go all learn
