Asaba on my mind

This night, the highly respected Asagba of Asaba His Majesty Prof Epiphany Azinge SAN will hear of me

I just finished a beautiful conversation with well regarded Asaba Chief Henry Okolo at the Lagos Motor Boat club

In the midst of the sad story, he told me some very beautiful things about Asaba

He told me about their anscestor who was an Igala man who now married an Igbo woman who gave him 6 sons who now berth Asaba which is over 700 years

He told me about their beautiful streams, their penchant for white, their music – Egwota and Aguba dance and their beautiful goddess.

He says, no story on Asaba is complete without the Music and Dance of Asaba

Over yam fries, chicken Suya and wine, he took me thru the beauty of the Asaba cultural lineage

I love a good story and listened intently.

He insited that I must visit Asaba, seek audience with the Asagba and better understand the Asaba people and their culture

Prof Ahmed Yerima has done a beautiful job on the script and he comes with heavy experience as he did Aremu, Sardauna and Emir Sanusi for us

I cant even wait for this play as what I have heard so far has thrown me into deep revulsion and at the same time wet my appetite for the beauty that is Asaba

I shd be with the Asagba of Asaba anytime soon and will sit down and take my time to listen to his own side of all of these beautiful stories

You see why I like my Life?

Asaba is written and directed by Prof Ahmed Yerima and will play the Agip Recital Hall of The Muson Centre this December in Lagos

There will be no gate fee as we have decided to open the gates so that as many Nigerians as possible can witness this epoch making production

The attendance link is ready – do you want to attend, its free

Thanks
