This one says he is the Director of Public Prosecutions, Lagos State and was the other day defending a mumu law
The law is the one that stipulates life imprisonment for a husband who forcefully has sex with his lawfully wedded wife
Well, one cannot really blame him na, cos his job like Fela’s Zombie is to carry out orders and not necessarily ask why
You see, the continued humiliation and mistreatment of men is reaching its zenith, especially in this Lagos State
With about 70% occupation of females on the bench – I could be wrong-in Lagos, men are certainly having a hard time once it is a sexually related or domestic violence type case with the Judiciary.
You fight from the point of being guilty to innocence, away from the constitutional provision of innocent until proven guilty, and if God wants to punish you and u are facing a female judge, like it’s almost always the case in Lagos, just go and settle the ‘kings’ at Kiri kiri cos you will most likely be there for life
On this matter of forced sex with your spouse, let me state it here very categorically before the tambolo feminists come at me in their usual rush manner without understanding what I am trying to say
Rape, sexual violence in any form, is vile and abhorrent.
No sane person will support it, or choose to sit in its defence
I will be the first to stone to death any proven perpetrator and will not stand with or dine with a rapist or female violator.
Now that cleared, let’s dimension this particular issue and its mumu law
So from what I understand and I would also want my learned readers to correct me if I am wrong, the law says that your wife has the right to refuse you sex and even though you have marriage licence you must respect that, failure to do that will lead to your being charged with one funny offence and you would be facing a possible life jail-not even 5years or a fine, Life Jail oo
Now the mumu people who pushed for this law and allowed themselves to be cowarred by the senseless mob of women defenders looked at it from only one side, I shd think
A woman, like every other being, has the right to mental safety and also has the right to self-protection, dignity and, very importantly, choice
A marriage license should not take those rights away; hence the need for consensus, negotiation, discussions, etc to arrive at a mutually convenient time for coitus, and this must be the case at all times.
Now, if under this situation, the woman or the man is now forced, then Mr Martins’ law stands firm to punish
When you are not mad, you see your spouse in a ‘bad place ‘; maybe she is mourning, maybe she just finished her period and is still fighting hormones or a bad day at work, or something really making her off, and you force yourself, then you deserve Martins law
Even at that, there must be a consistent pattern spanning an appreciable period, not that one small thing over a weekend you rush to Martin’s office and scream rape.
It also must be looked at with so many things in the marriage and not isolated to, he forced himself or herself on me
Now here is my worry, and this is where I think Martin’s and his army may have not done their work well
I can categorically say that in almost 80% of the time, sex is weaponised by these women and used for negative outcomes
They use it as leverage to achieve purposes, use it as a mental attack, use it as blackmail or just use it because they can
In that scenario, the man is left frustrated, damaged, in shock, with loss of confidence and all of the madness that comes with that
Nobody sees that, nobody talks about that, and no, the mumu people who put this half-baked law obviously did not take into consideration this before they enacted their stupid law, leading to Mr Martin’s to be climbing the rostrum and be postulating gleefully that – you will go to jail
Let me rehash again: all of the negative reasons for sexual denials in marriages still do not justify forcing or raping a spouse; it is still abhorrent
So what can a man in that position do? Well, that will be a discussion for another day, but for this one, I think the stupid law should be pulled back and taken in to be reexamined if this position I have mentioned was not taken into consideration at the time it was being signed into law
Necessary caveats must be put in place to protect all within the ambit of that law and not just give power to one sex cos they can scream
That law, as presently configured and to the best of my understanding, is stupid as it doesn’t recommend how a spouse who is deliberately subjecting another to mental anguish shd be treated and also recourse for the victim
It is a really really stupid law.
Come and beat me
