They are not the first privately owned business to come to Nigeria
We have Stanbic, Rand Merchant Bank in Finance; we have NB Plc, Guinness, Unilever and the rest
None has been this myopic in its Board selection
Can they go to South Africa and have 100% Afrikaans on the Board or go to India and have 100% Hindu? Or go to Rwanda and say they found merit only in Tutsi?
Those of you who are bandying the merit argument are insulting the rest of us, and I personally refuse to be insulted in this manner
To say that these Yoruba people were appointed cos of merit is to say this level of merit cannot be found in the other 400 ethnic groupings in this country
Every business, in its permutation, takes into consideration the socio-cultural colouration of the culture they intend to plant themselves, and that is why you would be mad to go and cite a piggery in Saudi Arabia and say it’s on its merit
Nothing any of you can tell me, and do not try to blackmail me by saying – you, of all people, should not be talking ethnic
On this matter, I am decidedly tribalistic cos this is just one more slap in the face of the rest of us
Even in their America, where race is the question, do they have an all-white Anglo-Saxon board? Can they try it?
These JP people have just reflected what they have seen in our socio-political and economic space, where the children of Oduduwa, led by their Enilokan, have seized everything possible for themselves
