Nigerian theatre – Yesterday, today and tomorrow

We have just greenlit the most audacious project in Nigerian Theatre – Nigerian Theatre, yesterday, today and tomorrow

This project, which will be headed by world-famous Prof. Ahmed Yerima will curate a one-month exhibition at the National Musuem and the National Theatre showcasing Nigerian theatre in its true essence – its players, scripts costumes, set all of its manifestations with our Duke of Shomolu Plays amounting to just 20% of its exhibits

Remember, we have produced more plays than any Nigerian, dead or alive, anywhere in the world – 72 by December 2026

We have reached advanced discussions with the National Museum for a collaboration which would involve technical support and housing of the exhibits

We will also work with Insurance firms to insure the exhibits and the lives of Prof. Yerima’s team cos of all the travel that would be involved

This project, with the 1,000-page book, Prof Tunji Azeez and 22 other professors are working on for us, will use our plays as trigger to document the rich history of our Theatre in a way that has never been done.

The multi million Naira exhibition , when through, is expected to run for a year, moving from the National Museum through the National Theatre, then hit other states of the Federation and most likely go international.

We just dey start

Come and beat me
