I have two rental residences in Lagos. One in Yaba and the other in Magodo
I also have two owned apartments I put up for rent in Lagos: one in Maryland and one in Ogba
My Maryland House is my retirement home, as it comes with 4 huge rooms, a BQ at the back but on the same floor, with an expansive living room and two balconies
Its market value is what gives me confidence that I am not a poor man
When I moved into my Yaba Rental home, the rent was like 60% of what I was charging my Maryland Tenant, so I would collect his money and pay my Landlord and still have change
Now Lagos Landlords are on hard drugs, and the rent has been growing astronomically
But as a sensible man, I tie my Yaba rent to my Maryland house, even though my Maryland House has a market value far higher than the Yaba one
So I give my tenant the bank details of the Yaba agent for him to deal
So as that one is raising rent on me, I am drinking tea, and my tenant is crying – sense will not kill me
My Magodo rental has seen an almost 200% increase in rent in one year
The year before last, it went up by 100%, so that means that I have been hit by a 300% increase in 2 years and from what I am hearing, I am even better off
Now my mumu tenant in Ogba/Agege
I had forgotten I even had a house in that area
Mena was the one dealing with the mumu. That is how I forgot that I even had a house at Northern Foreshore Lekki, and when I was going to sell it, I was wandering around the estate asking people for the street and colour of the house
Well, this mumu had come to greet me at Menas wake and introduced himself as madam Tenant
I said For where and he said Ogba Agege and I screamed, ” Ohhh, it’s true o. I had a house there o
I had bought it for N14m almost like 15 years ago when it was selling for like N10m
My rogue in-law had chopped me dt one, and I didn’t realise until when I wanted to sell that year, and they told me I could only get N10m, and I screamed
Well, it is a 3-bedroom on the last floor in a block of Flats with a confirmed street value of N150m
A week after I buried Mena, I went and missed my way
I could not locate the house, and the idiot refused to pick his call, so i kuku left him
Well, this idiot has been paying Mena N500k annually for over 10 years.
When I eventually got my in-law to manage the property, the man very reluctantly agreed to pay N700k cos I was broke and told him to pay N1. 4m now and don’t bother paying me rent again for two years.
He paid o, and I didn’t bother him again o
Ever since any attempt to increase rent, he will be reminding me that he repaired the house when he moved in 15 years ago, that he repaired the tap and plastered the floor.
I will leave him and not bother him and carry my wahala go
So the mumu is now still paying N700k for a three-bedroom almost luxury flat in this SANWO-OLU ‘s Lagos
They have built a big flyover near the estate, built a major expressway, and house values have gone up, and this mumu now reluctantly sent me N2m for two years’ rent last year.
Me, I was broke and needed the money, so I collected and carried my wahala and go
Now, this night, after consultation with his Babalawo, he sent my lawyer a note
I will pay N1. 5m next year April, when rent mature , cos it is his father that coined ‘Emilokan’ for Tinubu
Immediately I saw the note, I instructed that he be given a quit Notice
Then I went on AI to ask for average rent in Ogba/Agege and saw N3. 5m – N4m, and this mumu is telling me that he will pay N1. 5m next April cos his father Peter Obi will be President that time
Me, I am ready. From court, we will enter juju and from there, we will come back to court, and I will show him that I am more Agbero than MC Oluomo
Everybody is crying about increasing rent in Lagos, and this one come dey use my house do one man rent control agent
If I am doing 300% increase on rent in Magodo and doing over 400% in Yaba like every other law-abiding Lagosian, then why is this ‘kizito’ pegging my own rent on his own authority
I will scatter this mumu o in this Lagos abi am I Government that can not hold down rental cost, that he is coming to bully me like this

Mumu will get his quit Notice tomorrow, and he should go and look for space under the bridge cos that is where you can get accommodation for that kind of money he is offering me in this Lagos
He didn’t even say to come and collect the money today wey I for use am buy one shoe that I have ordered from London. He is saying next year!!!!!!
