Prof is a friend and even contributed to my book, and this is why this essay is going to be my most painful in recent times
Premium Times have released a two-part report basically alleging that all of his qualifications are a dud
When they released the first one, they stopped at calling the ‘professorship’ fake and said they were waiting for responses from the other schools on the lesser degrees
I reached out to Prof, and he told me he was gathering evidence and thanked me for my call and support
I dropped the line, wondering what evidence he would be gathering if he had a case
I went to UI in Ibadan, UNILAG in Lagos, and Lagos Business School
I have lost all my certificates and don’t even know where my WAEC and NYSC certificates are
But on enquiry, I will pay the necessary fees and get replacements in 24 hours; there would be no need to gather.
Anyway, I left it thinking that the schools oga attended were plenty and, as such, he would ‘gather’
Then the University dropped him from their website and eventually suspended him
In between these, giants in the ‘talk’ circuit where Prof Kila is a pillar, I started reaching out

I quickly quipped, this is an Ekiti man; he won’t kill himself; it’s not in our DNA
Then Premium Times slammed the killer choke – all degrees are fake, they scream in bold headlines
All? Yes, all, according to Premium Times
From first degree through master’s, PhD, and other small certifications, all fake
This is momentous. This is the work of a very confident trickster, who, though under investigation, was still on air postulating
This throws up a lot of flak on our system.
Who approved his appointment as a Pro-Chancellor without basic due diligence. This is what we call na wa o;
This doesn’t raise any dilemma about where my loyalty stands
My loyalty has shifted with the new report that all qualifications are fake, and I owe Prof Kila no sympathy at all
This is not a case of divergence of opinion like it was with Dr Tope Fasua when I went for his jugular for some opinion that he had held on govt policies
On that occasion, I was pilloried by mutual friends for going against him despite our friendship
That was a difference of opinion, but this is a deliberate and calculated push towards fraud and criminal deception
I write as a victim cos he contributed to my book as well.
Why would someone carry out these alleged deceptions for all of these years, garner public adulation, curry appointments, while still knowing deep down there is no structure underneath
Why wait to be outed in a dastardly manner when you could have used some of those years to go to school
Why why why? What kind of mind does he carry?
This Premium Times’ report is enough for me to sever professional ties with Prof Kila and sincerely do hope that he is courageous enough to come out and apologise to Nigerians and redeem himself by actually going to school, cos this is a mockery of those who laboured and burnt the midnight oil to achieve those qualifications
Consequently, I hereby sever all ties with Prof Anthony Kila until and unless he can come out with some form of defence to clear his name from this mess, till then, I no longer know him
